Grand Barn at The Mohicans | A Romantic Woodsy Wedding

Kacey + Nick

I met these two about a year ago when we met for coffee to talk about their wedding. Right away I noticed that they were a fun, outgoing couple, they absolutely adored each other, Kacey had such a big, beautiful, contagious smile, and their wedding was going to be AMAZE. It was held at the BEAUTIFUL Grand Barn which is tucked way back in the middle of the woods of the Mohican State Park. I arrived and felt like I entered a fairy tale! It was right up my alley with huge trees and tons of greenery EVERYWHERE! Y Oh, my heart. I could not wait to get them out and around for their portraits! Just you wait and see all the awesome places we found :)

The barn itself was also so gorgeous. Kacey and the girls were getting ready up in the main loft and the guys were getting ready in a treehouse nearby. How cool is that?! Dave and I arrived in the afternoon and while I photographed Kacey's dress and pretty details along with her and her girls getting ready, Dave photographed Nick and his groomsmen getting ready. Everyone was so fun and sweet! The groomsmen were a trip! They were hilarious and had me laughing all day. Don't miss all the great photos I got of them dancing :)

After they put the flower crown on her, this little flower girl looked in the mirror and LOVED the way she looked! SO CUTE!!! (Don't we all secretly feel this way when wearing a flower crown??)

After Kacey was in her dress we went outside and took her bridal portraits and the bridesmaids photos. She was stunning! Her long lace dress and floral crown made me so happy. All the bridesmaids looked lovely as well. So much pretty!

I had so much fun shooting Nick and his groomsmen! They were so funny and such good sports despite the crazy heat we were enduring! I love a fun bridal party-it makes wedding days even that much more awesome :)

After portraits we got ready for the ceremony. It was held outside on the back patio of the grand barn. It was hot, but so so worth it! When Kacey came down the aisle Nick's reaction was so sweet. He was beaming ear to ear and he sighed so sweetly when he saw her :) They exchanged their own vows which is always so special to hear.

Right after the ceremony and family photos we took some fun shots of the bridal party then I was so excited to take their bride & groom portraits all around the amazing venue. Oh man, I could have photographed them for hours. Between the amazing scenery and super happy, in-love couple, it was pretty much perfect!

After pictures we headed back to the beautifully decorated barn for the reception. Everything from the toasts to the dancing was so fun to photograph. I especially loved capturing all the adorable kiddos and the hilarious groomsmen break it down on the dance floor :)

Kacey changed into a second dress and it was that awesome golden hour so we snuck away during the dancing for a few minutes to grab a few more portraits. Sunset photos always end up being some of my favorite images from wedding days! Golden hour is a glorious thing.

Congrats Kacey & Nick, I hope you are enjoying marriage and being newlyweds! It was an absolute pleasure to capture your wedding day!

Eleanor Mackenzie

I don't normally post many family or newborn shoots on the blog, but I have to make an exception for this little bundle because she's my niece and I just love her to pieces already!!! :D

Everyone, meet Eleanor Mackenzie! Her first name means "bright shining one" and her middle name means "born of fire." She is Dave's sister's new daughter, 18 days old! Dave and I were both so excited to meet her and I was SO excited to photograph her! I have been photographing more boys lately (don't get me wrong, they're adorable) but the girly girl inside of me was really looking forward to being able to use flowers and ribbons and lace :) We actually found out that we were going to have a new niece/nephew at our wedding reception when we read the card from his sister and brother-in-law that was signed "Love Beth, Michael, Gwen, and baby" :) Awesome wedding gift right!

I have always loved watching Dave with Gwen (Eleanor's older sister) and watching him hold and love on this little babe totally melts my heart. Gwen absolutely adores her Uncle David and I know that Elle will feel the same.

I am so blessed to be a part of this sweet family and am so excited to now have TWO adorable nieces to play with and watch grow!

I hope all of this smooshy, flowery, precious swaddled cuteness brings some happiness to your rainy Friday :)

German Village Engagement

Lauren + Eric

Lauren & Eric-two super kind people, one super adorable couple! You can't help but just be happy when you're around them. Lauren's smile is so beautiful and SO contagious and I got to see it a lot because Eric knows how to bring it out in her! (You'll see!) I had so much fun running around German Village with them for their engagement session. German Village is my jam. I know it's a lot of people's jam, and thats because it's awesome. It is definitely one of my fave spots in Columbus. Lauren and Eric had never been before so it was awesome to get to show them around! We walked all around the gorgeous neighborhoods taking photos, I took them to the Book Loft (because everyone needs to experience the book store with 32 rooms and requires a map to find your way around), and we ended our evening at Stauf's, one of my favorite coffee shops. A super fun engagement session indeed! I cannot wait for their wedding at Scioto Reserve next spring!

Get ready to smile a lot because looking at these two and seeing how much fun they have together will undoubtedly elevate your mood. You're welcome! ;)

LOL, we took this picture because earlier in the day they were explaining to me that Eric's hand was all scratched up because their cat attacked him ;D

Downtown Columbus| Proposal at The Roosevelt Coffeehouse

Sarah + Nick

A friend of mine who works at Worthington Jewelers, Kathryn, (seriously the most amazing jeweler in town-defintely make a trip there sometime and look around! SO so pretty) recommended that her friend Nick contact me so I could capture him proposing to his girlfriend. Guys. Listen to me. Girls-go get your boyfriends so they can listen to me. GET A PHOTOGRAPHER TO CAPTURE YOUR PROPOSAL! It will be one of the happiest moment of your life and it goes by SO fast and you both will be so glad you have photos to remember it forever!

Anyways, when Nick called me and told me his plan, I could hardly wait! He was going to propose at he and his girlfriend, Sarah's, favorite coffee shop, The Roosevelt Coffeehouse. Ahhh YES!! Not only does Roosevelt have amazing coffee (and stand for many amazing things-check out their website here https://www.rooseveltcoffee.org) but the coffee shop itself is beautiful. Floor to ceiling windows that let in all that good sunlight, beautiful exposed brick...all the heart eyes. I was pumped!

I met with Nick at Roosevelt a few days beforehand to go over all the details. He was so excited to surprise Sarah and it was so sweet. We planned it all out for that Sunday morning around 10am, which is when they would usually go there together. That Sunday morning, Sarah thought she was going to have coffee with friends but when she arrived, Nick was waiting with two lattes and one ring, ready to ask her to marry him :)

When she walked in and saw him, he got down on one knee right there in the middle of the coffee house. It was SO SWEET!!! When she said yes, everyone around cheered :) Needless to say she was very surprised! They both were beaming ear-to-ear all morning. After I gave them a few minutes to process everything and enjoy their moment, I took some engagement photos of them in the coffee shop and outside. It was all so adorable and special.

Sarah and Nick, congratulations again!!! You are a darling couple and it was my absolute pleasure to be able to capture this day for you! I wish you a world of happiness as you begin this next chapter of life together :)

Snuggle Sessions!

My favorite part of photography is capturing REAL moments between people. What is more real that day-to-day hanging out with your person? Lounging on the couch, being silly together, snuggling up with a cup of coffee...THATS real life love. And I want to capture more of it! I want to do more in-home lifestyle sessions! Come to where you are together most of the time and capture in your element, being together the way you are day to day.

This coming Wednesday (May 3rd) I have rented a super awesome airbnb in German Village and I am booking 1 hour "snuggle sessions" for couples! I know it's not in YOUR home, but the idea is the same. Bring your favorite socks and t shirts, and get ready to cozy up together! Below are some inspiration photos for the sessions, all taken from Pinterest, to give you an idea of what it will be like.

If this sounds fun to you and you want a spot, send me an email at hollyaphotography@gmail.com!

When: Wednesday, May 3rd. Where: German Village airbnb. Times available: 9am, 10am, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm.
