Last Thursday was the best day of my life!!! The man who I'm totally head over heels in love with got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I GET TO MARRY DAVID PETERSON! I just want to shout it out randomly throughout the day. All the time. Every time I say it it sounds more and more awesome :) I'm at excitement level 1000 over here and my heart has never been so full!
How it went down...
So last Thursday I had plans with my mom. Or so I thought. About an hour before she was "supposed" to meet me, she cancelled on me because "her car broke down." Really, Dave had been planning this amazing evening and wanted it to be a total surprise so he had my mom make fake plans with me. So when I called him to tell him my mom wasn't coming to visit anymore, he suggested we take a motorcycle ride around the Hoover Dam which is our go-to area for riding. He then suggested we stop at my favorite spot near the dam which is a beautiful wooded area. It is seriously like a magical forest and I LOVE IT! He knows me so well :) It was perfect weather too. The rain held off and that amazing golden sun was shining so beautifully through the trees. (He made sure this all went down around "golden hour" - #boyfriendofaphotographer. He knows ;) So we pull off and start walking towards the woods. I see in the distance a cute little set-up and my first thought was other people had set it up and we were interrupting. I told him we shouldn't bother them but he was persistent that we keep walking towards it. As we got closer I heard "Love Song" by Hanson playing in the background, which is a song that he learned to sing and play on guitar for me about a year ago, and that's when I knew this was for me! My heart started racing as he took me by the hand and told me that this is where he was going to propose to me. Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! It was a moment I have been dreaming about for so long and the overwhelming joy I felt is indescribable. I obviously said YES!!! He pulled out the most gorgeous ring I have ever seen and put it on my finger and I haven't been able to stop staring at it since! He also had a bottle of my favorite wine ready, as well as Chipotle! (If you know us, this makes complete sense!) I couldn't eat due to all the butterflies occupying my stomach, but I sure did enjoy it later that night once I calmed down a bit :) To make things even more amazing, he asked Kari Bowman (KariMe Photography) to come and photograph the whole thing!!! I am SO grateful to have these incredible pictures so I can re-live that day forever and never forget all of the amazing details. It was seriously like a fairytale and I have never felt more special or happier in my entire life. I am thankful to God every single day for Dave and the incredible way he loves me. I cannot wait to do life together as husband and wife! Here are some of the awesome pictures that Kari took that evening!
Also, a huge shoutout to Alissa Theodore & John Maxwell for setting it all up and making everything look as cute and perfect as it did :) You guys rock!
